A Rare Navajo Pictorial Portrait Ingot Spoon
This double portrait spoon is probably the only known example of a Victorian woman in profile wearing a straw hat and feathers in the bowl. The present owner imagines an eastern victorian woman visiting the silversmith as he was in the process of making the spoon, and she said “you know, can you put my picture in the bowl of the spoon and I’ll come back tomorrow for it?” This scenario is as good as any as to why this spoon exists.
